Plan Your Escape to Hampton, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Hampton Escape Cottage is located at 15 Escape Lane on the ocean in Hampton, Prince Edward Island, Canada with terrific sunsets and a view of the Confederation Bridge.

A fully equipped three bedroom (king bed, double bed and long double bed) almost 1,000 square foot cottage; 250 meg Internet service, Bell Satellite TV, Apple TV, dog-friendly, heat pump, outdoor shower (hot and cold water), fire pit (poker, gloves, marshmallow roasting sticks provided), railings on the front and back steps and a large wrap-around deck.

Take a walk or a swim on the safe south shore beach which is just steps away. The low tides expose lots of sandbars. You can download an app for the tide times such as Tides Near Me or Shralp Tide 2. There are no undertows or currents so it is a safe place to swim. The waters are warm during the summer with the water between the sand bars as warm as bath water. You can enjoy making sand castles on the beach.

Amenities

Appliances include toaster, microwave (with air fryer), washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, Keurig K-Express single serve coffee maker (4 pods provided), coffee press, tea kettle, tea pot, iron (also ironing board) blow dryer, and an electric can opener.

We have lawn chairs, bench, beach chairs as well a barbecue and utensils.

We provide beach towels, bath, hand and face towels, dish cloths and dish towels. We provide liquid hand soap, toilet paper, paper towel, dishwashing liquid, laundry soap, bleach, Bounce dryer sheets, clothes drying rack, sheets and blankets. We have a vacuum, broom and dustpan.

Our kitchen includes pots, pans, cookie sheet, roaster, lobster pot, lobster crackers, lobster picks, plates, glasses, cups, silverware, wine glasses, ice cube tray, knives, knife sharpener, sugar, salt, and pepper. We have compost bags, blue recycling bags and clear garbage bags. There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen as well as flashlights in each bedroom. We also have an umbrella, cards and some board games for your entertainment.

Shopping and Restaurants

The nearby Blue Goose is a convenience and liquor store, restaurant and bakery with home made rolls and ice cream cakes.  You can also pick up firewood and kindling there.  You can pick up some groceries at Cr in Crapaud The closest full service grocery store is the Good’s Independent Grocer in Cornwall. Grocery stores on PEI do not open until 12 noon on Sundays. Cornwall also has Subway, Pizza Delight, Tim Hortons, Robin’s Donuts, Kozy Korner restaurant and Royal Garden (which serves Chinese food). Mary’s Cornwall Bakery has an excellent selection of baked goods including gluten free products. The closest gas station is Esso Gass’s Food Mart in New Haven.

Fishermen’s Wharf Lobster Suppers in North Rustico and New Glasgow Lobster Suppers in New Glasgow are close by. Captain Cooke’s Seafood in Borden Carleton is a great place to buy seafood as well as MR Seafoods in Charlottetown.

There are two excellent restaurants in Crapaud as well the Red Rooster which serves home cooked meals and Home Run Eatery that serves home made pizza. Also, Foxy Fox Coffee House and Boutique serves specialty coffee and sells clothing and giftware.

Minutes from Victoria by the Sea

Minutes from Victoria by the Sea where you can rent kayaks or paddle boards. Victoria by the Sea has great restaurants such as the Lobster Barn, Landmark Oyster House, Richards Fish and Chips and Casa Mia By The Sea.  No visit to Victoria By the Sea would be complete without a visit to Island Chocolates, where you can buy mouth watering chocolates made on site and amazing hot chocolate, factory coffee (inside of the cup lined with chocolate), espressos and lattes.  Sunday mornings feature homemade chocolate waffles.  There are numerous artisan shops that you can visit as you stroll through the picturesque village. The Victoria Playhouse offers excellent plays and other events.

Golf Courses, Disc Golf and Trails

There are fantastic golf courses throughout Prince Edward Island. There are excellent golf courses close by. For example, Clyde River Golf Course and Country View Golf Club are less than 25 minutes away. Glasgow Hills Resort and Golf Club is about 30 minutes away.

One of the world’s best disc golf courses is 8 minutes away. Hillcrest Farms Disc Golf in Bonshaw was awarded best course in Canada and second best in the world.

You’ll be 10 minutes from the Bonshaw Hills and Strathgartney system of trails with great biking and hiking trails. Enjoy!!

Hampton Escape Cottage is about 30 minutes from Charlottetown, and Summerside and 40 minutes from Cavendish. We are about a 25 minute drive from the Confederation Bridge.

Our minimum stay is 7 days (Saturday to Saturday). Check in time is 4 pm and checkout time is 11 am.

Rates

High Season: Rates are $2,000 per week all in cost during July and August for 4 people.  $50 extra per person.  

Low Season: Rates are $1600 per week all in cost in June and September, October for 4 people. $50 extra per person.

A 25% non refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.  The remainder is due upon arrival.

Terms and Conditions

Smoking: Smoking or vaping is not permitted in the cottage or on the property.

Payment: Payment is only via e-transfer to hamptonescape15@gmail.com.

Tents or Campers: Please do not set up any tents or campers on cottage property.

Overnight Visitors: Extra overnight visitors  – other than those registered are $50 per night. 

Fireworks: Fireworks are illegal on PEI.  Please do not set any fireworks off.  Likewise, no other incendiary devices are allowed, such as tiki torches and light fluid for campfires.

Pets: Your dog is going to love being here. Dogs can run freely on the beach but must be on leash otherwise. There is a maximum of two dogs. Please pick up after your dog. Any other pets are not permitted (e.g. cats).

We really enjoyed our week. The cottage is cute and very comfortable. The AC was nice to have on those humid nights. There is lots of seating for everyone. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. A Bbq for grilling and a fabulous deck to enjoy. They provided beach chairs and beach towels, which I thought was great. The views are beautiful, and you will enjoy some amazing sunsets. The beach is private. Next time I will bring a floaty for the water, that was the only thing I missed. There is lots to explore around the area. Convenience stores nearby. Carol and Janet were amazing. They were easy to communicate with before and during our stay. I would recommend you book in and enjoy!!!

We recently stayed at the Hampton Escape Cottage for the second time and felt we must write a review.

The environment of the beach, the low and high tide, the sun rise and sunsets are absolutely marvelous. The community is very friendly and welcoming, and it’s very easy to become accustomed to this little part of beautiful PEI.

And next door to the cottage are our hosts and so anything that could go wrong is immediately remedied in a wonderful, friendly neighborly manner.

I highly recommend the location also beyond the beach, because of its proximity to so many other fabulous PEI features. Victoria by the Sea, the Foxy Fox cafe in Crapaud and the mere 25 minutes drive to downtown Charlottetown.

Can’t wait to come back.
